According to crower it should be fine as long as you have the stock rev limiter.

Hey how'd those cams feel? Did you tune them on the dyno? I'm asking because I have similiar cams 63402's instead of the 63402a. I didn't feel much gain, but haven't had a chance to dyno yet so I was just wondering if you felt a great difference if yours ever got tuned.

Well i got my motor built by DFE in jacksonville FL...The motor was a 1.8l Gsr with 12.5 compression and some other stuff and he dynoed it on a motor dyno not a car dyno and he got 215hp and 160 tq..On pump gas 92....thats at the crank..But those gains were with CTR intake and a GSR exhaust....When i put the motor in my car a week later i got the 63402a and when i took it for a ride it pulled hard Mid and High...so yeah i felt a diffrence..they are really good cams....

Yeah I had ITR intake.... and b16 exhaust... for like 200 miles and then replaced them with these 63402's and didn't notice much difference; maybe I need to get mine tuned.

Yes, without a problem. Just keep factory redline.

I used to have the 402a's, but opted to get the 402's for more mid power.

They pull REALLY nice though.

Damn, I have to get my 402's tuned because I'm unsatisfied so far.

Yes, in their stock form, they are a bit flat, but with some tuning, they are animals!

I'm just still debating on where to take my car to get it tuned; I'm in SoCal and there ARE choices of dyno facilities.

Where in so cal?

San Diego - GodSpeed dyno services. $125/hr (best dyno I've ever seen. He can adjust the roller weights to match your car, his name is Burt)

Orange county - Dynamic Autosports - $unknown (Aries (sp?) is one of the best tuners in so cal, everyone that I know that has had aries tune their car got great results)

LA area - Import builders - $unknown (Jeff is well known as an excellent Honda tuner, and he carries the Hondata line)

There you have it.

I'm over by LACR and I guess IB is closest to me but debating because heard much about Dynamic also. R&D in Gardena any good? Most places that I've called around in the past is only 100 an hour.

Tuning on those cams will make a night and day difference. I have the 63403s and they do almost nothing below 5k rpms with the gears at 0,0. When the gears are set right it's a huge difference. You might be losing dynamic compression because the intake valve is staying open longer.

Nope. If you're going FI next year then save your money.

I'm doing a timing belt and waterpump and installing my fpr and heading straight for a dyno--I hate the feel of 650 bucks(63402's) doing nothing. I'm wondering though....I'm blowing alot of grey smoke--worn rings; if that is going to affect much of my hp? I know it will somewhat because my compression is lower, but is it worth the wait(prolly another 5-6 months until I get some $$) to change out them rings or just get it tuned as is....very impatient man I am though What u guys think?

I'd take the tuning $$$ and put it toward a re-build.

Really. I'm in the same boat you are. My car's burning oil and I really want to score some dyno time. I just don't see much point in blowing allot on tuning when I'm losing compression by the rings. I see it as an excuse to raise the compression. I have new pistons and moly rings waiting on bearings.

See if ya got the money, you can be more patient and build it better. But if you're like me and have nothing but bills and diapers to buy (and also unemployed), I am kinda impatient to just get my car tuned(hoping it's only 100) and down the track a couple of times before my wife start trippin about $$ and where our savings went.

It would seem to me that the less money you have the smarter you have to spend it. If you have the skills then you could likely get away with a light cylinder hone & re-ringing. Depends on the condition of your cylinder walls. This wouldn't cost a great deal of $$$. I know all about wives and whining about toy spending, and I too have a child in diapers.

Well TimoneX, I just did a quick compression check and my rings don't look all that bad after all(195--200--205--220psi). Yes it's a little worn, but it don't really look like it's worth the time and money; what do u think?

I think a variation of 25 points is too high.

The service manual I was looking at said 25psi max variation--I'm on the border, but that's for a stock car and not for performance
