Check that alternator!!! if the lights are getting brighter it could be a bad voltage regulator and giving too much voltage this will kill everthing electrical very fast.

check your distributor wires. Make sure the plug on the dizzy is connected, and make sure there are no cuts in the wires resulting in a short

Mine did this when my VSS plug was loose. The part of the plug that snaps into place and holds the plug onto the sensor had broken off, and the connection was intermittent, thus making the speed read zero most of the time and occasionally 90 mph in 1st gear.

i dont know what the code is for because i dont have a comp. but it was on before i had this problem also it is way to expensive to go get it checked out. Does anyone have a comp. in the merritt island florida area? Also yes the vss plug is bad one of the little connectors fell out when i pulled it out but how the hell do i change it it part of the wiring harness do i have to wire a whole new one in or is therer a simple solution?

You can get the code manually by jumping the service check connector.
