crap idle after sitting?.....
does this when i start the car after it sits all night or when i leave work. sounds like it's running on 2 cylinders, car is fine after it runs for about 1 minute...if i start it and it does this, i rev the car, about 3000 rpm, car blows blue smoke and has severe miss, like it is running on two cylinders.....ok now i know what you are thinking blue smoke, oil right? well, the other day it did this and i just shut the car off without reving the engine.....car would not start back up, sounded like only one cylinder was firing.....so i took out the plugs......plugs in cylinders 1,2,3 were soaked with fuel, cylinder 4 was black but dry.....
put new plugs in, car started but still had that miss/crap idle, so i reved the car again....car ran fine......still does it today.....
any idea what could be causing this? here is the set up.....
92 civic cx, 00 b16a, chipped ecu, I/H/E, zex 75 shot, plug wires, warlbro 255 pump, and thats about it......car ran fine about 3 weeks ago and started this when it got colder out.....
any ideas?

I know you said you've got a lot of new stuff in your ignition, but check it out anyway. Wait until it's real dark out, with the engine completely cold. Start it, turn off all the light, look for arcing on your wires, distributor cap, stuff like that. Then take off your cap & check out your distributor rotor really good.
It doesn't take much of a defect to short out your ignition. Then once it gets just a little bit warm the moisture dries out & it doesn't short any more.

I'll have to check that out, since it's dark out and car has been sitting for the past day. If not then i'll have to get out the spray bottle.
Car did not do it when i went out to check it out, it figures, so then i went to a friends house.....ummm, car is still there and in need of plugs again
nice winter car, it doesn't even run in the cold
off to fix this load....

still lost on this.....tried a bunch of stuff...seams like the car is flooding itself on high/cold idle, checked wires and cap, rotor, starting to **** me off. can the chipped ecu be doing this? I've heard that they sometimes cause bad idle?

If there are no ignition problems then I would venture to say that I think I know what your problem is. I have a similar problem (not as severe as yours but close):
I used to have a b18c5 in my 93 hatch running with a p28 chipped. When I first got my chipped ecu, the program/chip was bad and the car wouldnt run past 2000rpm. I called the company (pyr) and got another chip sent- it worked beautifully for both cold/warm etc. now fast forward a bit
I spun a rod bearing in my b18c5
, so I bought a b16 shortblock and put the itr head/manifold etc on it. The car runs fine (same chip that ran great cold/hot w/ 1.8 liters of displacement) when warm, but when car is cold and it is cold out, my idle is a bit rough and it almost sounds like its running on 3 cyls or has a really lumpy cam in it
. Once warmer its normal.
Perhaps your ecu program is running too much fuel for your set up. I know mine is (pulled plugs recently=BLACK)
hope this helps

I would suspect leaking injectors. The residual pressure in the system slowly leaks out and fills the cylinders. The blue would be from washing the oil off the cylinder walls and mixing with the gas sitting in the cylinders. It's around $25-30 each to have them rebuilt and checked out. You can check them by removing them from the head, keeping the rail attached and pressurizing the system then looking for leakage at the injector.

with the colder tempratures the ECU wants to dump more fuel in closed loop. with the added fuel pressure and volume of the walbro pump it's dumping ALLOT of fuel when you first fire it up causing it to run like crap for the first 30 seconds to a minute.
my suggestion is to drop the fuel pressure as much as you can and try to get it to around stock setting and give that a try......
only downside is less fuel for the N20 but since it's winter time i would hope your not spraying.......

or maybe just go back to the stock 00 si pump? I'll have to check fuel pressure as well. thanks
yea no spraying in the winter. we got like 6 inches of snow today so far and traction isn't there anyway
i'm going to try a stock ecu, if that doesn't fix then i will try the stock fuel pump, and if that doesn't work i will check out those injectors. and if it still does it then back to the drawing board. thanks so far guys

ok, it only runs like crap for the first 30 sec to a minute, but if it gets bad enough it will shut off, causing 3 flooded cylinders.
I checked fuel pressure and it is at 45 when at idle when the car runs right, with the vac line hooked up. haven't gotten to check it when it runs like crap cause it only does that after the car is completely cold. like sitting overnight. I haven't gotten my hands on another ecu yet...will check fuel pressure tomorrow morning when the car does it's crap again.
stupid question....why does the colder temps have anything do with this? wouldn't it burn fuel better with the colder air?

thats alot of fuel pressure...........the ECU dumps alot of fuel when cold for some reason (i think it has something to do with warming the emmision components up quicker like the converter and o2 sensor).
so with the lower outside air temprature the ECU will wanna dump even more fuel. so with the extra fuel pressure you have it's just gonna flood them until it warms up.
try to lower the fuel pressure to about 43-45psi with the hose OFF the regulator and give that a try.

went ahead and just installed the stock 00 si pump, also the stock spark plugs, only things now that are not stock are timing (retarded 4 degrees- changing that tomorrow) and the chipped ecu. Tomorrow mourning will be the test, I'll let you know what happens.....
i figure that since i'm not running the nitrous and won't be for about 4-5 months then why have the stuff in there that i used when running the spray.
