so i just had my motor built and i assembled it on a engine stand and installed my timing belt, set the timing and rotated the crank about 10 times to make sure everything was good. I put my tranny on, dropped the motor in and put everything together. Now when i turn the crank to set the timing for the distributor, the crank will only turn about a quarter turn and then stops. when i rotate it back and forth it sounds like its hitting somethin when it stops each direction. I took the timing belt off to see if it was gettin stuck on the valves but even when i turn just the crank it gets stuck. I am thinking it is something to do with the tranny or even my clutch and flywheel. Please help!

 

is your car in gear?

 

even if you take the timing belt off you still have open valves

 

not in gear and all valves are closed

 

Do you have a camshaft in the motor? Cause if you do, all the valves are not closed...

 

I would pull the transmission and check it. 94

 

yeah i took the cams out, i guess im just gonna go ahead and pull the tranny and see whats goin on down there, thanks.
