Crank Fluctuation Sensor B16B
(Ignore next sentance, I had wrong sensor, still worried about missing sensor)
The shop is doing a swap on my car and in the process of tearing down, inspecting my motor they were unable to locate a crank angle sensor on the b16b.
Has anyone done a teardown or build of this motor? I assumed since it was obd2 it would have to have one. They were saying if the JDM ECU for the B16B didn't look for a crank angle sensor there would be no problem. The shop mechanic said it looked like there was no place for one, like it wasn't removed intentional?
The motor was missing it's knock sensor so it's got me worried they stole this CAS part from the motor also. If anyone could give me a definite answer I would be forever gratefull.

Something I heard of another forum. Anybody know if this is true?
The crank angle sensor is inside the distributor it's a little flat type box that has 3 or 4 wires going to it.

C.A.S on b-series.
As read from the Civic & Integra Haynes manual:
All models employ a crank angle sensor which is located inside the distributor. The Crankshaft Position/Top Dead Center/Cylinder Position sensors are an integral part of the distibutor. Either way apparently I was looking for the wrong thing.
He told me CAS when I beleive he meant Crankshaft Fluctuation Sensor. It consist of a pulse rotor on the pulley side of the cranshaft and a small pickup sensor mounted on the engine next to the rotor, The sensor detects changes (fluctuation) in the rotational speed of the crankshaft to determine if a misfire has occured.
Either the B16B doesn't have one or my motor is missing parts. It looked almost like it had the rotor but was missing the sensor. It really didn't seem like there was a place to mount the sensor? Anyone got B16B they've dug into?
Auggghhhhh!

Re: C.F.S on b-series. (Staples)
I've answed my own question! There is no Crank Fluctuation sensor on B16B
I just read a write up on a guy who had to make his JDM type-r motor into a USDM motor cause he got a CARB ticket in California. To do this he had to run a USDM (obd2) ecu with a USDM (OBD2) oil pump with the C.F.S. and add the USDM crank gear with the teeth for the sensor, he also had to add a USDM (OBD2) lower timing belt cover to clear the added senor.
So apparently OBD2 JDM motor don't have this sensor and if you run the OBD2 ECU (and don't have to pass CARB emissions) you're Ok.
whew!

Jdm cars may not even be using obd2.Some of the European market Hondas were obdo into at least the late nineties.
