Default cracked sleeve??

im pretty new to this part of buildin up a motor. i already did a bunch of searches i didnt really find anything that would answer my question. im lookin into buying a block but it has a cracked sleeve. i was going to resleeve it either way so i would avoid problems later on but i have a bunch of questions on this topic. ive been told i would loose some displacement by doing this. is this true? also is it worth investing money on a block like this only one of the cylinders has this problem. if someone could help me out with some basic info it would be alot of help.

thanks in advance

Where is the crack and how big/long is it?

Typically, resleeving the block will take care of the crack, if it's not too bad. Sleeving also will let you keep either the stock bore or you can bore out to a bigger size. Either way, you don't lose any displacement.

If I could avoid buying a cracked block, I would

if the block is cheap get it. I wouldn't worry about a crack sleeve, you said you where goin to resleeve it. It depends what you want to do with the motor you can always enlarge your displacement with a bigger stoker kit. Dartoon sleeves or Golden Eagle MFG (kick *** they did mine).

yea my goal would be to go with a bigger displacement. so work would have to be done on it.. and for the price its worth it . i think. so by going that route i wouldnt have to worry about any problems. and would it be reliable?
