crack in flywheel?

Default crack in flywheel?

i was taking my oil pan off when i noticed my flywheel has a hairline crack in it should i worry about it

Cracked flywheel = not good.

I would find a replacement immediately.

A crack can get bigger and before you know it you have a two peice flywheel

what would it damage if it broke and how muhc would it be to have a new one installed

Depending on your rpms I've seen pics of shattered flywheels....one piece went right out the front of the car, through the tranny case, radiator, and bumper. Another piece went through the hood, and the final piece could be seen sticking out of the passenger foot area.....not good at all.

It could also hurt some one if you have a passenger. There was a vid on here somewhere a while back of a dsm that shattered a flywheel. Not pretty

Ya, a shattered flywheel can send a 10 lb hunk of metal through the car. A passenger in the passenger seat would be cut in half if it decided to go that way. The firewall wouldn't even slow it down.
