Default Cr-vtec Vs. Gsr ? pro and cons

I have a 95 Gsr motor and would like to add some more power. I have thought of the crv block. I would like your experience or comments. Thanks

id get a cr-v block and get the highest compression pistons that will clear a GS-R head, and use a skunk IM. i think it'd make pretty good power. but make sure you do the PCV system right, and make sure to drill the oil ports good. i say go for it.

I'd sleeve the C1 block to 84.5mm or 85mm if you don't mind taking risk. You'll have a much stronger block than the B20 w/ similar displacement.

If you want to have some fun playing around with compression and displacement checkout this site http://www.c-speedracing.com under the "how to" section theres a cool calculator.

or you could do that. thats a really good idea, actually, cause B20 rods suck, and the blocks not really strong. the crank is the same as a GS-R, though

crank is not the same... b20 crank is the same as a LS 89mm stroke.

don't bother with the crv, you said you wanted a little more "pep", get other things first, cams, jg manfld, p/p head, or hell just throw a bottle on it, everybody has blah blah blahd about this subject a zillion times, yeah yeah yeah if you build it write it will be a good motor, BUT you already have a good motor, save your money for boost, then build it.

The ls crank and the b20 crank is exaclty the same. Crvtec can put out big hp and
tq numbers, but at the same time so can a gsr block resleeved to 84-85mm bore.
It really depends upon your preference. Do you really want to deal with resizing
the dowel pins, running an external oil line, plugging oil supply hole in the p72
head. At the same time if you don't have a extra gsr block hanging around thats a
lot of down time for your car. Or you can resleeve a bare b20 block to 84.5 and
not have to worry about the sleeves cracking and have strong b20 block. IMO buy
a bare b18c1 block get it resleeved, get pistons, rods, etc then sell your old one
slap the new block on and ur set.

I hope to get a spare block and build it. I thank you all for helping me make the right choice. I did not want to spend that much but it looks that way.

or if you wanna look cool (like me ) you can get a B20 block and build that on the side..same as LS but just a little more (for the block that is..)...

Happens.

I'm in the same boat you are, kinda. I have a GSR with built head, cams, computer I/H/E...etc, but a wrist pin popped out of the ITR pistons I put in damaging a stock sleeve. While I've corrected the wrist pin problem the sleeve damage is a bit more complex...it's too deeply scarred to just bore, so a new block or sleeving this one is the only alternative. Now if I did NOT have another vehicle to drive whilst my teg is down for sleeving I'd probably look for another stock or sleeved block to stand in, but as it stands by far the cheapest and most optimal solution is sleeving my own block, so that's what I'm doing. Good luck to you whichever way you go.
