Default a couple questions...

My car already has a rusted out part in the muffler. Im goin to replace it when i get a little money. (Im in high school, workings not my top priority.) Anyway, my questions are:
1 Does my car lose power (not that is has much) because of the hole?
2 If I make the hole bigger, will it make my exhaust louder? (It is noticably louder already.)
3 If I replace it what type do you suggest i replace it with (I want something that sounds good, but not ricey) and about how much will it cost?

Thanks in advance...

1. if its a small hole, and your exhaust system isn't a highly tuned one, then the hp difference will be minimal.
2. a bigger hole for more sound to escape should make it louder.
3. i highly suggest a Dynomax Ultraflo muffler. its stainless steel, available in different sizes, very quiet compared to other mufflers, and about $75 (at least when i bought mine) then maybe another $25-50 for labor.
