Default coolant temp sensor?

if the sensor is bad(the one with the single nipple)will it cause the car to over heat or just give a false reading?

Just give a false reading to the best of my knowledge.

May be somebody knows if the ECU uses that signal to turn on the fan in conjunction with the thermoswitch.

I like direct reading gauges for water temp and oil pressure. It either works or it doesn't. They take the guess work out of trouble shooting.

If your serious about performance go with direct reading gauges.

it'll just give a false reading. that goes directly to the gauge only.
