Default converting a ecu automatic to 5 speed

I already remove the jumper r17 and r18 and i put a paper clip on r18. It doesnt work, the check engine light is still on. I used my buddies manuel ecu and no check engine light. Is there something else i forgot to do? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

A paperclip? OMG.
Did you de-solder the resistors or just clip them off? Did you follow this guide
https://honda-tech.com/forums/tech-misc-15/diy-how-convert-obd1-automatic-ecu-manual-2969571/?
or did you try and take a shortcut?

I desolder the resistors out.

Figure out what CEL it is throwing before doing anything else. I would also remove the paperclip and use a piece off a resistor. Double check your soldering and make sure it's legit as well.
