Default Compression test

When I was doing a compression test today, I kept hearing like a pop sound. I was just curious to what it was. I'm guessing its the air in the other cylinders shooting out.

was your spark plugs out?

also smell around, check to make sure you didn't fart

it's probably compression pressure.

We just tested a b18c1 with itr internals today. It did the same thing. Normal, don't worry about it.

Just curious, what kind of numbers did you get for each cylinder?

210 all around on a 00 si. I have a first generation b16 and the head gasket is stock and I pulled 235 all around.

First gen at 235, doesn't that show some pretty heavy carbon build up, I believe new is at 185 and min is 135, so 235 is pretty out of the ballpark.

For high numbers can you pull the head and physically clean the cylinders and tops of pistons to remove carbon build up or do you have to go get it honed or something similar?

Yeah it is pretty high but its nothing to worry about, as long as the numbers are close to each other then its fine. Also I just did the compression test on a 00 si civic and the numbers were 210 across the board and the engine is only like 2 years old. I have heard the b16 compression is usually alittle high. By the way, if your check engine light is on and you do a compression test, that has no effect on it right ?
