Default Compression readings?

Could someone please offer some advice. I am looking to purchase a 1995 used accord with 2.2L 4-cyl engine (248,000 miles). I had the car professionally inspected and car came back with very clean slate except possibly cyclinder compression tests. Compression test results were as follows: Cyl 1 = 122; Cyl 2 = 160; Cyl 3 = 165; Cyl 4 = 175. The dealer that did the inspection was reluctant to interpret the data for fear of liability!

Any help would be appreciated...

i mean with 248k miles what do you expect?
cyl# has prolly bad rings. try putting a cap of oil on that cylinder to see if compression goes up.
to see whats better going on you should do a leakdown test

That is actually pretty bad for that mileage. She is going to be an oil burner. I have seen MANY Accords in the 400k range running 170 straight accros. The previous owner must not have changed the oil very regularily.

In short... I would walk away, unless you figure in a re-ring job.

He is original "mature" owner with all service records. Records are very organized and indicates oil changes regularly at 4500-4800 mile intervals. He claims the the engine runs about 1/2 quart between changes. Kelly Blue-book indicates a value of $3,300ish - I may be able to pick up for under $2,000.

Dilema, dilema

buy it!

those guys are silly, most oil burning comes from oil seals gone bad. a car could have perfect compression and still burn oil through the valve seals.

the F motors are troopers. and cheap as hell to replace.

i give it the OK.
