Compression Ratios
I am planning on building up a N/A d16y8 mtoor and I have a few questions...
1.)What would be the highest compression I could run on 90 or 92 octane gas??
2.)How much would it cost to get pistons installed, assuming I would need my block bored out??
3.)How much would the said pistons cost??
4.)Would I need new rods to go with the pistons??
5.)Also, what other parts would I need to make a higher-compression setup work??
Thanks!!!!

stock is like 9.2 and needs only 86 oct. with stock timing
the only pistons I've seen are turbo at 9:1 and NA at 11:1
don't know anything else but at least your back to the top

depending on the avalibility of fuel in your area you can be safe with 12:1CR on 91-92 octane.
how much will it cost to put them in? call the machine shop that will be doing the work and find out.........
how much for pistons? depens who/where/what kind of pistons you buy........they range from 350-500 for a set of good forged pistons.
new rods would be a good investment if you plan to rev it alot and if you plan to make alot more power over stock.
high compression pistons love high lift long duration cams. choose a good cam that will suit your application. also consider haveing the cylinder head ported...it will make the engine breath much better.......
good luck!

1) 12.5:1
2) 150-300
3) ~450
4) No
5) Stand alone and larger injectors
I suggest you seriously consider a swap before investing a couple of thousand dollars in injectors, stand alone, high compression, and installation on a d series motor. You will not be that impressed with an all motor d series engine. You can do a b16 swap into just about any car for a couple of thousand dollars, and your car will be putting out ~135whp stock with lots of potential in the future. Another $500 for nitrous and you drop another second off your time.
There are cheap ways to be fast, and there are stupid ways to be slow. Your choice.
