Default Cold start

I was under the impression that import automobiles had a cold start feature that would boost your RPMs to around 2000 upon start up and gradually move down to standard idle once the car is warmed up, i have a JDM b16a in my car and am curious as to why my car dosn't do this.... a friend of mine has the same engine in his car and said he dosn't have that feature either... Is this a problem or normal??
TIA

one more thing, does anybody know of a website that has pictures of fully assembled intake manifolds so that i can match the vaccume line im missing up..

I was under the impression that ALL cars have this feature in some way or other. Every car I've ever owned had it, but they were all a bit different. 2000rpm isn't always the magic number, either. Depends on the temperature.

'72 Datsun 510 - fast idle cam on the carburator
'74 BMW 2002tii - fast idle mechanism on the injection pump
'82 VW Rabbit - electrically heated auxiliary air valve on intake manifold
'86 Jetta - ECU controlled auxiliary air valve on intake manifold
'89 Saab 900 - ECU controlled AIC valve across throttle body
'95 GS-R & '98 Accord - air bypass valves on manifold
'01 Saab - ECU tells the drive-by-wire throttle to open just a bit

in my carbed '84 prelude you had to pump the gas pedal once before startup.
Sorry though, I know that doesn't really help.

Most cars idle high until they warm up. If you're referring to the 'Fast Idle Solenoid', some vehicles don't have it. 90-91 Civic/CRX Si's had them for sure, but only kick in when temperature is below freezing.

thats the problem, when i start it up cold it dosn't rev to anything but a boggy 800-1k/rpm... i think my injectors are getting bad too i tried starting it today and it would just crank over and over but eventually squeezed out a luggy bogged down start...
