Coilovers or Not ... That is the question ???

Coilovers or Not ... That is the question ???
Ok ... I just bought a new 2002 civic si and was thinking of droppin' it next spring (Canada so major winter coming). The only thing is that I am confused about what to do.
Firstly, I was thinking of putting in coilovers (because I would be able to raise it in the winter) but people are telling me that they will i) rust ii) get dirt inside which will screw them up. So ...
Then I was thinking about just putting in a good set of sport struts and good lowering coils (1.75 inches) because it is cheaper than coilovers and changing back to stock suspension when winter comes. However ...
Then my buddy says that there is some "sleve" (I think the company starts with a G but not sure) that works really well. It is kind of adjustable and would give me the freedom if I went up to 17" rims etc with either slamming it or raising it in case it rubs.
So basically I am now all confused! I do know that coilovers are the most expensive ... but I would only want to buy them if they will be able to stay on all year long. If they shouldn't be driven through a Canadian winter then I think I would just take the sport struts with lowering coils (cheapest I think too) or that "sleve" thing my buddy was talking about.
If you know of good suggestions company's (good combinations for struts and springs) let me know ... I am new at this stuff and don't want to make a wrong buy because I dont know any better.
Thanks

go with some ground controls, just because its a coilover sleeve so that price is reasonable, and 2 they use eibach springs which you cant go wrong with. With ground controls you can still adjust the height of your car

If you're doing coil overs, do the real thing....IMO
TEIN $1000
H&R $1000
APEXi $900-$2000
HKS $1100-$2400
JIC $1200
KONI $1300
Spoon Sports $2300
Tokico $800
Tanabe $1400-$1600
Zeal $1700
....or at least do performance shocks at the same time as sleeved coil overs.

If you can afford the real coilovers all at once, do that. If you can only afford a few hundred dollars at a time, then get the ground control coilovers. Then you'll need new shocks if you want any sort of decent ride. Then a camber kit so you're not buying tires every 6 months. Add this all up and it's about the price of the Tiens.
Patience = true coilovers
Impatient = ground control/aftermarket shocks

Re: Coilovers or Not ... That is the question ??? (CivicEx95)
I went with sprint spring (2.25 drop) --- and tokico struts --- Im happy --- I could have spent more, but every civic ive been in is harsh --- hence the need to spend more money for a better ride went largely ignored by me... I live in Denver, CO --- I drive it in the winter this way ... works fine. My friend has coilovers and has to change them every winter/summer and its a pain, it gets all dirty and fucked and also gets out of alignment everytime you dick with it...
