Default Coil on plug ignition

Hello, I am currently a student a pct. I was am very interested in creating a time attack car using my current crx. My upcoming mods for the summer is a b16 with obd 1. As I was in school I learned about coil on plug ignition. I am thinking about coverting the engine to coil on plug ignition which allows every spark plug a get its on coil pack directly over the spark plug. I know I would need the sensors and the ignition module. But I was wondering does anyone know someone that has tried this setup before. By creating this setup spark will be much more reliable and be controlled by a computer. There less moving parts which can make the system more duriable. What do you guys think?

Default Re: Coil on plug ignition (classic86crx)

this has been done alot. User name Tony1 runs a shop in Tx and has a kit to do just this.

http://www.t1racedevelopment.com/ From what I've read/seen, a non-honda ecu is required (i've only seen this used with the AEM EMS) to be used with this. It takes some $ to get the parts etc, however its a topnotch ignition setup...however I think this setup might be overkill for a mostly stock motor...the stock dizzy isnt all that bad

stock dizzy is fine for what you're doing i can guarantee. Most of the setups i've seen use CBR (motorcycle) coils and an AEM or similar EMS.
