Code 7...already checked voltages
Car has been hesitating for a couple days on the hwy, and then got a lot worse today. Threw a code 7 for TPS sensor finally...
Back pinned the tps sensor and got .5V at closed, and 4.5V at wot, and rises steadily from closed to open with no dead spots.
So what is my next step? Replace the whole sensor?

Its super super hard to see a deadspot if you are using a voltmeter. Shake the wiring while you check the voltages to make sure there isn't a short within the harness. If all good, replace the sensor.
Good luck. I've got the same code in my '88 CRX and I'm having a hell of a time. Two TPSes, TPS checks out, wiring checks out, two ECUs, swapped the O2 sensor (that got rid of the CEL, which was CEL 7/TPS), but the car still has the bucking. My CEL only would come on when the car would run perfectly btw. If the CEL was off the car ran poorly.
It started out as slight hesitation but has gotten far more violent as time passes. It's so bad that to get the car home last night I had to unplug the TPS and drive home like that (but it causes the car to go from 43mpg to 28mpg).
Good luck. That's just a few things I've tried so far.

Hope I don't have to go through all that.
Might make another one in tech later on. Think I forgot to change the fuel filter and maybe PCV valve when I got the car. One of those things where you have so many parts for multiple cars and if it didn't get done on the first day, then it got forgotten about.*crosses fingers*

Best part is I'm supposed to put my Y8 into the car but just haven't had the time/help yet.
Hey nofx. Your problem is pretty easy. If your cel is on for tps sensor and the car runs good without it plugged in, obviously the problem is with the tps circuit. Now, i don't know how much you know, but start with the basics.
Make sure the the sensor gets its 5volts reference. Then check that their is a good ground. Next check the return voltage. at closed throttle it should be at .5volts. wide open at 4.5volts. Many times the problems with the tps will be intermittent and you need a scope to see the problem.
If you get the proper voltage and the ground is good. Replace the sensor.

I don't want to jack this thread so I made yet another one: "TPS" problem - Can't seem to solve
