code 23: knock sensor
Well, i finished a swap of a gsr into a EG, and now the engine is coding out #23 (knock sensor) THe sensor apperars to be connected, and seeing as the motor came out of the kids other car, i know it was not an issue before. What can i do? THe car will start up, no codes, and then after driving for a little, code. Then you turn it off and back on, and its gone untill 5 mintues later. I dont know what it could be. Hes running a vafc and a usdm p72 if that helps any.
Its wired right, i just think i am going to run my chipped p28 for now, to eliminate knock sensor. Unless you think the sensor is reading something that is wrong? thanks

Have you reset the ecu?
At the ecu plug, are you sure you have D3 wired up correctly? cuz' perhaps its wired up, but since the knock sensor is a single pin sensor, you might have not wired up the right pin at the sensor, if you're understanding what I'm saying.
Make sure that wire is pinned right and making proper contact or you'll get the cel. Sometimes wires look like they're making contact but they really are not
All good ideas, today, i am going to trace the wire from the sensor to the ecu (d3 is guess) and make sure, if i am still getting the cel, i am going to just eliminate the knock sensor. I was just worried it was trying to tellme something is wrong with the engine.

Was he running a OBDI ecu? Maybe the sensor has always been bad and he didn't know. OBDI's don't look for the knock sensor.
you mean p28 doesnt look for knock.
P72 and P30 regardless of year look for knock sensor.
continuity test the wire, from pin D3 test it out to the KS connector.. If you have continuity then everything should be wired correctly and perhaps the problem lies within the KS itself.. The way you explained that the CEL came on is the way it does when the KS is not wired/connected right.. I would check some connections.. Good Luck

well, there were no problems before running a p72, now i am going to prob just run the p28 chipped to stock p30 specs, and since the p28 doesnt have a knock board, it eliminates the knock problem.

if thats the case id say the problem lies in the wiring on your car
