Clutch squealing!!!
Hi all,
I have an ACT unsprung 4 puck clutch and light weight flywheel. When i pull out, the clutch lets out a high pitch squeel until it grabs...so its just for a second but it is annoying. If i feather it trying to pull out nice..its pretty loud. Is this anything to worry about or normal for such an aggressive clutch. Just looking for a few opinions or a definate answer on this. I searched and found lots of throw out bearing issues. It's definately not that.
Thanks guys.

sound like a howl right? but dosent do it if you just dump the clutch? if thats it dont worry, its part of the package of having a multi pad (puck) clutch.

It actually sounds like a slipping belt but a little deeper. I'm not real worried about it i was just hoping someone had a solution. Would a 6 puck sprung clutch do that?? I need something to hold atleast 350 whp. Anything out there more daily driver friendly, But will hold the power?
I'm sure this has been covered multiple times in the past on HT.
Thanks blinx!

yup, thats exactly it. its normal, i believe the clutch compound may play a role as not all puck type clutches do it, but a lot of them do, mine is copper ceramic (miba), do you know the meterial of yours? mine tends to do it more when the motor/tranny is cold, like the first few times i leave first, after it heats up i goes away. does yours go away or its there full time?

It used to be before it warmed up like you explained..but now its all the time...maybe because its always 20 degrees out all the time, who knows. I'm not sure what compound it is...I just know its act 4 puck unsprung. The car was running at 430 whp. Now its at about 300 for the street. So i need something beefy but its a chore to drive this thing everyday!!
hmm, i see, thats kind of a tuff situation to find a friendly clutch that holds that much tq/hp. i just bought an auto ej6 for daily use i recomend you do the same if you got an extra $2500.
