Default clutch problems

I just put a clutch in my CRX with an LS swap. Being it is a 91 cable tranny I have the smaller input shaft. I had used the proper clutch disk and throwout for the trans but I used a pressure plate for a 95' b18b hydro trans. All installed well. Now when I goto reattach the cable I lift the arm and attach the cable. But not the cable seems to short and the arm wants to stick. It seems like the throwout is sticking to the plate. now I can push the arm back down and then I have some play. Is this normal for a new pressure plate or should I remove the trans and make sure that nothing is binding.
