Default Clutch problem

Hi can anybody please help.
This is going to be my 3rd clutch in 9 months. The car isn’t being used for racing so the clutch isn’t mishandled. The engine has been modded with the head skimmed and the cam being reprofiled, so the power increase wasn’t that much. But now, like al the other times, there is a grinding sound coming from the gearbox/clutch. The last couple of times this was due to springs that broke in the drive/clutch plate. The mechanic told me that it was due to too much torque, so in went an up rated and strengthened clutch with double springs, used in turbo setups, but again now the noise started. The car still goes into gear, but I don’t trusted is now.

The noise is evident while engaging and sometimes even while disengaging the clutch, and sounds like the throw out bearing. (the people who installed the clutch didn’t left any free play so the bearing could be shot).

What could be the cause of the springs breaking on the clutch it self.
The mechanic also forgot the last time to put in the dowels between the gearbox and the engine, could this be the cause.

Also, there is no pilot bearing in the fly wheel as the 1500 engine Honda in South Africa doesn’t have that bearing, but this engine is an imported one from Japan, does anyone know if they have a pilot bearing in the fly wheel or not. There is also no free play on the input shaft of the gearbox, so the bearings seems okay.

Any help would be appreciated

Without the dowels, the engine & transmission are probably not aligned perfectly. The bolt holes have too much wiggle-room. Then those springs in the clutch disk are being overworked all the time. I suppose that's also bad for the bearings on the tranny input shaft.

Thanks for the reply. That was my thoughts as well, but some people said that wouldn't be a problem, but that is the only one I can think off, as the input shaft isn't bent and the bearings doesn't have any play on them. So that is the only thing left...the dowels...will check it out. thanks.

PS. would a racing cluth work or not, those witho out the springs. as I am planning on adding NOS to the car.
