Clutch is not releasing! What to do????
My clutch is not letting go. I have a cable YS1 tranny. When I shift its really hard to get gears. When I slow down with the clutch in I can feel it grab and cause the engine to shake. I've adjusted the cable and this did not help at all. Any suggestions? I also have a 94 GSR OEM clutch. Will this work withthe YS1 tranny?
I'm not mechanically psychic, but I can tell you what just happened to me. I was having similar problems shifting (without the engine shake). All worked fine except it was exceptionally hard to shift, and at times it would grind or not go into gear at all. I eventually discovered that rev-matching (double clutching) helped out quite a bit. Turns out that my 110k clutch disc had an inner piece of the sprung hub broken completely off. I assume that it was stuck between the disc and flywheel, preventing dis-engagement. Bottom line, your clutch is may be f*cked. Maybe....
Hope this at least gives you a start -Matt

Often, the throw-out (also called release) bearing will make a fair amount of noise when it has gone out. BTW- A spring also popped out of the hub of my girl's 94 LS and it made it pretty hard to shift. It seems that the OEM discs just start to fall apart after awhile. The spring-popping problem is also known to happen on Clutch Master's units under hard launching.
