Clutch noise
Whenever I press my clutch in, a squeeky sound comes from my tranny. Only if I press the clutch in fast, if I go slow and steady no sound. This occurs when I am putting it into gear and when I am in neutral and press the clutch in. Also when I am in gear there is this whining sound from the tranny that didn't used to be there. I also smell gas after about 20 minutes of driving. Don't know where it is coming from. Any ideas, thanks.
As for the squeek, it sounds like the clutch fork pivot points are dry. Have you pinpointed the whining noise to the tranny. Does it only occur when driving in gear? Does it do it at a standstill with the clutch disengaged and you revving the engine? If you narrow it down to the trans, the first thing to do is check the fluid and look for any leaks. If it's not the trans, is the whine more noticable on turn the wheel? Check the power steering fluid level in that case. More often than not, whining sounds comes from bad bearings; the growl from the bearings transmits through the mounts, unibody and interior and ends up sounding like a whine inside the cabin.
Thanks it is definatly coming from the tranny. When the car is in N and I press the clutch it squeeks, same when it is in gear and I am driving. I thought it might just be the line or something rubbing, but the squeek only comes from the tranny. All fluids are good. Thanks for your help
