Default Clutch Gurus: Master cylinder problem?

Hey guys,

My master cylinder started to leak a while back so i got it replaced with the OEM part from a local honda dealer. When i got it back it felt the friction point felt weird/weak. Almost like "fluttering' just at the point of engagment. (i checked the master leakage... none). (The car also shakes quite a bit during this "fluttering".)

That was a few weeks ago.

Just this past weekend i got a ACT clutch installed and the problem is still there.

So my question is: Is it the Master cylinder? Would air in the system cause this?

TIA

I'm curious, but what is "fluttering?"

I ask this b/c at times my clutch will slip, and at other times, it really is picky in the way it grips... unfortunately it's still and OEM clutch (although I had a ClutchMaster Stage 3 that I couldn't afford to install and had to sell)...

i informed the dealer of the problem but the technician claims it's normal.

How would an ACT clutch fix a problem brought on by work that HONDA did?
I did not buy/install the clutch to solve the problem. It just happened i needed to replace my clutch. Simple as that.

And why have you waited a few weeks?
Not that it's you're business or anything but I started a new job and i felt this issue wasn't important enough to leave work early/come late.

When you say the car flutters, do you mean it feels like it's shuddering when you start to let out the clutch and then stops when the pedal is out all the way (when you start out from a stop)?
Bud, that's it exactly. Leaving from a stop, the car begins to shudder at the point of engagment (on the clutch).... once it's engaged it's works fine.

The problem is most noticeable in 1st gear and reverse.

Oh yeah, thanks for the invitation to VT

I am about to have my master cyl replaced and my local honda dealer informed me that when replacing an old master cyl the slave cyl will go very soon thereafter, could be your problem not sure?

Both should be replaced at the same time. Otherwise they will put stress on each other. I am going though the same problem as you. I had a difficult time bleeding my clutch of oxygen. You will most likey bring it to honda stealership? They will do it right and try to charge you extra.

Anybody know if it'll make a difference if I replace the Master/Slave Cylinders with a Honda OEM or will somelike like a Beck/Arnley do? How much do the honda ones go for anyhow?
