Default clutch / engine noise - help

My GSR is making a very weird noise when I am feathering the clutch to get the car moving in first gear. I can't describe the noise other than it sounding like something is rubbing but the noise is kind of loud, then followed by a small squeak once the car is moving.

Also, if I'm well into gears like 3rd gear and I downshift to 2nd and let the car move without gasing it and I let go of the clutch slowly it sounds like a scratching noise..

I can't duplicate the noises but I'm hoping somebody out there has heard of or had something similar happen to them and found out what it was.. I plan to take it to a mechanic soon but I would like to know what it is b4hand, the clutch feels strong - I bought the car a few months ago so I am not sure what clutch is in the car but many people have told me it is not a stock clutch and it feels like a stage1/2 because you basically have to rev my car a bit to start moving it or it will stall..

Check your motor mounts. Especially the rear one cause those are notorious for breaking.

Okay the first problem is pretty common... A lot of times if a racing clutch (solid unsprung disk) is not broken in properly you'll get that squeak a lot of the time... Even if you break them in properly they'll sometimes do so... I really wouldn't worry about it because it's just something you'll have to live with... I put an ACT Maxx Xtreme PP w/ 4 puck disk in my friend's GSR/EK... anyways he put ~600 miles on it before stabbing on it and shifting hard just so it wouldn't squeak but it does now... I also just put a GSR into my friend's EG with a ACT Heavy Duty PP and 6-puck disk... He didn't really bother to break it in and that wasn't that big of a deal but it does make that squeak that i'm talking out... As for the grinding sound when you're downshifting I first thought that maybe you throw out bearing was going out but normally it doesn't make a grinding sound.. more of just a light vibration sort of noise.. kinda like dry dirty ball bearings... <- basically what is wrong with a bad throwout bearing... But i think your problem may be the synchros.... At least that's what it sounds like.... Good Luck and I hope this helps.. Peace

thanks for the help

about the downshifting, i didn't mean my gears grind when I downshift.. if I go from 3rd to 2nd (for example) or 2nd to first, goes into gear just fine but when if I slowly left off the clutch I hear some sound.. hehe =/ /shrug.

I guess I'll find out soon if it's a racing clutch or not, plan to spray on it soon let's see how the clutch takes it.

sound very like what my clutch sounds like on take off too, the clutch still bites hard so i figure that its the release/throw out bearing. i'll just suffer it till the clutch gives and get the whole lot upgraded then.

slightly O/T i also have a 93 EG civic ESi (D16Y) beater, it has 170k+ on the stock clutch, the throw out bearing has been whining/rubbing/vibrating for almost 45k miles now, but the clutch still works good!
