Default cleaning carbon off pistons while still in head..

i have the head off my motor, and i got a bunch of carbon build up on the top of the pistons.. with them still in the block what is the best way to clean them..

ive searched and only found one topic with cleaning them while still in the block..but id like some other opinions..

is it safe to just spray on some type of solvent and then wipe off??

anything to stay away from?

Bring the piston to top dead center, and pack grease in betweent the piston and sleeve so that no carbon falls down and then scrap it and either blow it off or vacuum it. better to vacuum, this way your can suck out the grease too.

Or buy a bottle of cleans at GM and spray it, it will liquify the carbon. This stuff is amazing. Only thing is this will get past the rings and into the bottom end so it is reccomended you change your oil after.

i second the cleans treatment.

go to you local chev parts department and buy a spray can of "cleans"

spray it on and let it sit the carbon will just wipe away!
