Default Carbon buildup on pistons

I want to clean the dirty carbon deposits that cover the top of my P30 pistons. What do I clean and remove the deposits with?

are you going to run the pistons or sell them. Because having small carbon deposits on the piston is good for heat transfeer.

well rain, it also helps with predetonation if it gets bad.

don't use an abrasive pad that will scratch the surface, you'll do more harm than good. Automatic Transmission Fluid works well.

I am going to run them. Just thought I would clean them since the head is off the block. But if it helps I guess I will leave it alone.

I would clean them if I were you. Chemtool works quite well

Chemtool is a solvent you can buy at an autoparts store for like $3 a can. It cleans carbon up really well.

He says that he has the head off....so if you use this solvent to clean the pistons while they are still in the block is that going to be a problem?

it is fine if the motor is like, not assembled and has no oil in it. Else I would not let solvents get in the motor unless you were very careful.

GM top clean is a very strong carbon cleaner. Just spray it on and let it sit.

Cheap too. Just don't get any in your eye.

ATF, after you use, drive around you city and give everyone a taste of burning carbon build-up. Cops might pull you over because of all the smoke, tell him/her to shut up!
