New here, Doing a mini me swap with a turbo on a 92 civic dx. what do I need for tuning capabilities? Do I just have my ECU chipped and download Chome? What's the best bang for the buck?

 

well you will certainly need a wideband.

my opinion best bang for the buck is neptune. i feel it runs the car much smoother than crome but costs way less than hondata

 

I take it you are going to be getting tuned by a local tuner? If so, it doesnt matter what we think. It only matters what the tuner recommends.

With that said though, most tuners tune on all three of those platforms. I'd suggest Neptune because it is what I have currently. Chrome has its' fair share of issues and an utter lack of support (even more so now). Hondata is a great product with minimal support (from what I've heard). Neptune is a great product with good support (he replied on his forum very frequently). Chrome is very cheap. Neptune is in the middle. And of course Hondata is the most expensive. For a very basic set up, like yours, Neptune is more than enough. Chrome will probably be fine too if you are running tight. But be warned that it is not favored very much anymore.

 

Figure out who you will have tune your car, then use what they prefer. Ultimately, the quality of the tune depends on your tuner's skill, not what system. If you bring them a tuning platform they aren't familiar with, your end tune will most likely be sub-par.
