Default Chipped pistons

So today I had my pistons pressed off of the rods and when I got the pistons back, there are a few spots where there are little chips on the top where it forms a 90 degree angle. I guess you can say the part where it becomes flat at the top above the piston rings.
The chips aren't very big, maybe 1 cm is the biggest one.
Will this affect performance?

post pics of this if you can...

might be detonation marks...

or, if they are factory pistons, it might just be the stamped letters/numbers onthe top of them. chips are generally not good things for the tops of pistons though, no.

Well, I have had the pistons out for a while now and the chips weren't there so I know they are from them. I'll get some pics and have them up in about 5 minutes. Thanks for the fast reply

How the heck did yah chip them there ? Is there something in the cylinder? I'd honestly just replace them at that point but if you're cheap like my friend he says there fine.

-EDIT-
Yeah honestly I'd scrap them. If that's the chips I see on the edges there going to score your cylinder walls and ruin your block.

It was a machine shop and retail store. I'm taking them there today to ask them about it.

Well it looks like I am out p30 pistons and LS pistons. I told my dad that I wasn't using the PR4 Pistons but was going to use the p30's. He took them for me to the shop since it is in another town but my dad works in that town. He told them I wasn't reusing the pistons so that is why they are all messed up.
I'm buying new p30's now and am going to use the old ones for something innovative like maybe a trophy or something lol.

well even though I no longer have good pistons right now, some good things happened today. My friend sold me a cable b16 tranny for 100 bucks for my ls vtec and I also found brand new p30's for 150 from a local guy
