They sound good for about 6 months. Sounded like a wrx or evo for awhile, let me see if I have some sound clips some where.

How so, a cherry bomb is a resonator/glass pack, used with a muffler they sound good.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by axiomjunglist &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">How to make a fart can (aka cherry bomb):

1) Take a can of soup, strip off the label and glue it to the back bumper.

2) Take off your muffler and throw it away.</TD></TR></TABLE>

Like I said, a cherry bomb is used as a resonator, not a muffler.

sorry i didn't know cherry bombs could be used as resonators, here everyone uses them as a muffler or way to make their car sound very "muscle car" like. Anyways if it works, hats off to ya. We had a flowmaster on our hatch when we bought it-didn't sound bad at idle- low and mellow but when it got to about 3k...i wanted to do bad things to myself. We put a stock muffler on it, and now were going turbo so were just doing 3" pipes

You need a helluva lot more than some cheap silencer/resonator/cherry bomb to help the noise polution from an N1-style fart can.

FOR THE RECORD: there are two types of silencers/resonators we are talking about here. The typical cherry bomb is fiberglass-packed & tuned to MAXIMIZE noise. Preforated straigh-through silencers (like a OEM Honda unit) are made to reduce higher frequencies along with a slight reduction in noise.

Dual preforated resonators (straight-through, not the baffled type) w/o a baffled multi-pass muffler sounds nice on a TURBO car ONLY. If its NA, spend some cash on a nice muffler & resonator. Magnaflo makes some very nice-sounding preforated/packed resonators, spend an extra $30-40 on one of those. You'll be happy you did. I made my own 3" exhaust with summit resonators (one 18", one 24", both 3" in/out) for very cheap, so I don't care if it rusts soon or the mufflers go bad. It was more for welding practice, in that respect its paid for itself.

A cherry bomb is a resonator, and it helps to reduce the high pitched ( bumble bee ) noise. You are making it seem like the cherry bomb is designed to increase noise which it is not. The Cherry Bomb resonators are also preforated.

that is what i want, i want to put a cherry bomb in my in my exhaust with my megan muffler so it doesn't sound like a bumble bee. so it WILL NOT be used as a muffler it will be used to change the pitch and sound of the exhaust. my exhaust will go something like this: exhaust manifold-2.25" piping- stock cat- 2.25" piping- cherry bomb- 2.25" piping- muffler. correct me if im wont on how that should go.

The cherry bomb will work for that, but only for about 6 months because the insides burn out.

I used to run 2.25" exhaust no cat to a universal ebay turd can and it sounded like the world was ending. I had them put a Resonator on, about 3/4 the size of a cherry bomb, and it honestly don't sound bad. Still loud when you want it to be but you can cruise around and it'll be somewhat quiet. But that's on my b series engine. D series seem to have this icky sound with any exhaust that isn't a catback.

Mines tucked under the car, and paint black. You would never know what it was unless I told you.
