youre the most ignorant and retarded person here... Dseries worthless huh? try Bisi's all motor, nonvtec dseries that runs 10.90's in a crx idiot. Dseries are tight and cheap thats why people use them, they can make tons of power. but i am a Bseries guy, what would i know.</TD></TR></TABLE>
Like sinister said if you put a lot of power into a d-series motor they are very unreliable and ineffiecent. b-series motors are just more effiecent and reliable and are cheaper to make it put out more power than a d-series motor. I think your ignorant for thinking that the d-series are cheaper to make more power. Just because the motor comes stock in most hondas doesn't make it cheaper. Its less effiecent so its going to take more to make it put out a lot of horsepower.

You are an idiot. You have no knowledge what so ever about motors, and if you do, the way you speak doesn't make it very apparent. For one thing you'll never find a B series swap for $1050, I can't believe no one else caught that one. My friend got his B16 for $3000, he put it in his CX hatch. My other friend who has a CX hatch with the same D16Z he swapped out for the B16, beat him. Reason being, the B16 may put down 20whp more, but it weights 100 lbs more. Unless you are planning to go faster than 11's the SOHC WILL BE CHEAPER to build than the DOHC, period. SOHC has more hp per dollar potential. Take your worthless garbage talk elsewhere. For those who cannot afford $3000-$6000 for a swap, there is much potential in a D series. Look at Mista Bone running, 14.8 N/A and 13.09 with a 85 shot on a stock D16Z6, or SingleCam Screamer who runs a 12.7 on only a 60 shot with a D16Z6. Or BoostedEd9 who made 302whp on a STOCK block. He hit 11's. Unfortunetly, yes it did blow, but only when he upped the boost trying to get more, but that was his plan anyways. Look at Bisi with his 10.7 D15 or his new SOHC F22 that just went 10.23, both all-motor. How about Zex Man running 22psi and 125 shot on his D16? And MANY OTHERS ON THIS BOARD. Why don't you go read Tom's post in the EG forum about his D series build up and tell me if you think your B16 swap is still cheaper. You get a hammer.

Now I have a 2000 si with a b16a2 and it runs so much better. Oh and I do know a lot about motors, i'm in the process right now of fully rebuilding my engine, port and polishing the head and intake manifold and blueprinting the entire engine. You ever blueprint an engine...probably not, just because I can't put my thoughts into words doesn't mean im an idiot. I know that a d-series motor can put out power with turbo and nitrous but that can make your car unreliable. I want a na motor that is can be a dialy driver and the d-series motors just can't run 12's and be a dialy driver and if there is i've never seen one.

youre polishing the intake manifold, lol..be carefull it doesnt get too hot and blow the welds on itself
saying youre in the process of building a motor does not mean u know anything. people couldve told you what to do, as in your case where blueprinting isnt necessary until your motor isnt daily anymore and is only for races...and i think many people here have dseries 12's dailies...

look bottom line here is that a b-series motor will have more power potential. now does it have enough potential to outweigh the weight difference of a swap? maybe, maybe not depending on what his goals are... the d series small bore and 90mm stroke (for the z6) are what limit its potential but its a cheap, easy, fun, light motor that can take moderate abuse fine and be really fun to drive. personally i think that building up a 12:1 cr d16 with a ported head and wild cam and the basic i/h/e would be a fast daily that would be really inexpensive and could seriously woop on a b16a equiped car but wouldnt match the potential of a built b18 or b20 vtec motor....

That's what limits the potential of having a high revving race motor, but not everyone needs to rev to 10,000rpm. The 75mm bore and 90mm stroke give a good enough rod ratio to spin to 8500-9000rpm, it's been done before. Bisi spins over 10,000, but I'm sure he has altered the specs we were speaking of above. Plus it would cost less to sleeve your D-Series and Bore it to 80-81mm than it would to swap in a GSR.

I'm amazed to see that for that price, but it's out of an older del sol, isn't it? He got a 2000 Si motor. I have a 2000 coupe, bought it when it was new, and would not buy some 10 year old piece to put in my new car. I prefer not to have someone's used junk. I am also building my D series now with SRP 10.5:1 pistons, Eagle rods, ACL bearings. I am also throwing in a set of 450cc injectors and a Hondata S200 and will be running a 100-125 shot. The parts and machining will cost around $1400 total. I am doing the assembly. I would much prefer this setup on a budget over that rusted, torqueless, B16 you showed me. After all, it is still just a 1.6. Don't get me wrong, I don't think swaps are worthless, if I could I afford one I would get a B18C5 or H22A, just NEVER a B16.

I think it is comical that so many Honda owners (I do own a honda) argue different honda engines amongst themselves. I think it is similar to the treatment most honda owners give V8's. You can accurately say that a SOHC or DOHC honda motor is more technologically advanced than a 5.0 pushrod, but you cannot say that the Honda motor is better. By the same token you cannot say that a DOHC is better than SOHC. There are other things to be accounted for... $$$ being one of them. You can buy a brand new 5.0 for under $1300- so shouldn't we all buy those?

And I bet all the d-series 12's daily drivers aren't NA motors, which is the motors I like to build.

Just because you disagree with my comment doesn't mean its worthless. Its called difference of opinion. I've had a d-series motor and a b-series motor and I just don't like d-series motors and thats why I called them worthless. Maybe I should of said it different but I didn't. And the motor I showed you isn't a worthless piece of junk. All the motors have around 30,000 miles on them. Thats nothing for a honda engine.

</TD></TR></TABLE>Hey thanks I think I know what I'm doing. I've done it a hundred times over. Oh and I'm not having someone tell me what to do, I've been building motors all my life. I started building sprint car motors with my dad when I was 12. Blueprinting is isn't necessary but it helps the motor run more effiecent and isn't only for race motors. And I bet all the d-series 12's daily drivers aren't NA motors, which is the motors I like to build.

I try not to argue because I agree with what you are saying, but when people come in here with worthless comments like this...</TD></TR></TABLE>

Plus it would cost less to sleeve your D-Series and Bore it to 80-81mm than it would to swap in a GSR.</TD></TR></TABLE>
bisi is still 1.5 litre...
