Default check out this cam review!!!!!!

i just came across this and i'm not sure what to believe after reading and looking at the dyno plots he has put up? I just wanted to know what you guys though about this review? Do all those cams that he compares the type r cams really get dominated that bad in the low to mid range?

All that doesn't mean a thing...zip. A scientific evaluation using BASIC principles requires that there be only one variable. This jokers using different engines and different configurations. If you want to do an evaluation of different camshafts, take ONE car and leave it in the same configuration for every test except for the different camshaft. I would consider that a fair evaluation.

Differences in engines aside, I think his point is that ITR cams are more practical from a daily driving and reliability standpoint. It makes a lot of sense to me if you arent going to change your valvetrain and keep a stock redline.

Very well put tilt.

A lot of people don't realize that you don't need big cams to make big power. 200 Hp NA on a 1.8l B-series DOHC VTEC motor is easily attainable on ITR/CTR and Toda specA/Skunk2 stage 1 cams.

I don't know about that guy...but I want to win any street race I am lucky to participate in. And if it is gonna cost me extra $$$ for not being responsible enought to research and do the suggested modifications needed to support whatever cams I choose...then serves me right for being stupid. So, not to hate on that guy...If you want mid range (useable) power...go with ITR. If not...then Do your homework. And do it right.
Peace.

What bolt-ons are you running? I've seen ITR's squeeze 190whp from just quality bolt-ons, maybe some minor tuning. Also, get a set of adj. cam sprock's with the cams, and a VAFC, then throw it on the dyno and you shouldn't have a problem hitting 200whp.

i've seen a lot of reviews of different cams and not once have i ever seen any cams make more midrange power than the ITR cams. When ever i get cams i think those are the ones i wanna get. I'm a big fan of reliability so i'll be just fine reving my car to 8400 and having a lot of midrange.

After reading that cam guide thing, i went to import review's site and stumbled across this.

http://www.importreview.com/reviews/SKUNK2VSTypeR.jpg

Hm...i wonder where all that midrange power from the ITR cams went? Or are aftermarket cams capable of producing the same midrange power? Seems like he rigged or tuned in favor for ITR cams in the first review to make the ITR cams look better.
