check engine light
i have a questionf or you all i have a check engine light but ive already figured out why i have it its because the idiot at the shop that did my exhaust...i didnt notice till the light came on like a month after...anyhow he welded two o2 sensors before the cat instead of one before and one after....well registration is coming up and i didnt realize it and i most likely wont pass smog with this...any ideas from anyone on how to get this thing to pass smog would be greatly appreciated. i live in las vegas , nv btw
**** gasoline, low gasoline in tank, hot hot motor all help. If you fail post again and we can see about what can be done to get a pass for you. You could also put in a really clean burning fuel like ethanol but not too much.
The second O2 sensor will not change your emissions. It will not make you fail so don't worry about it. The only thing it will do is turn on the engine light.
well ive gone to a few smog places and they wont even do the test, they keep telling me that i will fail...i dont understand the only thing thats wrong is i have the secondary o2 sensor in the wrong place its before the cat rather than after.... anyhow anything you guys can think of that i could do? I would just have an exhaust shop weld a new grommet or whatever but the o2 sensor that i bought cause the previous one was all worn out, was made for the primary o2 so its kinda short, would it work if i just extended it or is the wiring different for the secondary o2 sensor?
Some states will not allow the car to pass if the CEL is on. Even if the tailpipe measures OK, they'll have to fail you if the lamp is lit up. Different states have different rules.
