Default Check Engine light

I know there's lots of topics on this already, but none of the archive really answer my question. My CEL come on now and then when my car has been running for a while. I have a air/fuel ratio meter and I've noticed that usually after my car has been running for a while, the meter starts to flutter around the lower end of stoich and lean.

For example, I may stop at a light and it'll start fluttering around that area, eventually the meter will just read lean and stay in the lean area and my light will come on. I took it back to the dealership and they told me that it was the o2 sensor, but I just recently got the o2 sensor changed.

Can anyone shed some light on this.

Thank you

What's your engine setup?

I think I have a similar problem. I have a '96 (OBDII) Civic with an OBDI d16z6. The throttle sometimes 'sticks' at 2000 RPM. It will only go down if I give it a little gas. Also, my idle is strange...sometimes for no reason it will fluctuate up and down between 1000 and 2000 RPM. Eventually the CEL will come on and the car seems to be (even more) gutless!

I was told it was a bad O2 sensor as well...I had it replaced...no damn change whatsoever!!! Plus my throttle cable is fine...no leaks etc.

I'm thinking it's the OBDI thing...I might try and change it to OBDII if possible...eventually, hopefully soon I'll be getting a new engine and transmission.

I'm interested to hear what people have to say about your issue as well...

Well as far as i know when your decelerating the a/f gauge will actually not read or actually its reading but its off of the gauges range..those things are tricky to read and not really reliable....do a search under air fuel ratio gauge....i recently searched this topic and came up with some interesting 411

I have the D16Y8 engine with I/H/E. I did have a fuel regulator but I took it out b/c I thought it was the fuel regulator that was screwing up my car, but with the stock regulator the problem still occurs.
