Default check engine

i have a 2nd gen b16 in my 95 si w/ chipped p28 ecu and stock guage cluster. Recently ive been throwing code 17 (vss speed sensor) after about 5 minutes of driving; but the weird thing is that my guage cluster works fine and vtec still engages even when the check engine light is on. Any inputs on why its throwing this code?

The ECU should still work fine with that code. Check the VSS input to the ECU and make sure its getting signal. Otherwise your speed sensor could be on its way out...?
