Cheap vs expensive... = Lower quality parts vs higher quality parts...

Cheap kits have any combination of the following: cheap bulbs, poorly rebased/misaligned bulbs, ballasts that burn out quickly, problematic wiring that draws its power through the headlight connectors instead of from the battery, etc.

You take a risk with buying any HID kit. Some kits are just riskier than others.

Yeah.... phillad has a point... but brand name also costs....
Just a little example:
window for a beemer 328 (front passenger) costs 400 dollars (...straight from the dealer)...
my friend got it for 130.... (ordered from miami).... why so cheap?!... (same manufacturer, but without the "bmw" symbol at the window.
Both windows were made by same manufacturer. And that is commonly done on the market. Electronics made in one place, get stamped with a big "name brand" and get sold for some $$$, and another company buys the same electronic (from manufactor) and stamps its own brand name, charging 35 to 40% less, because hasn't made its reputation just yet.

don't over generalize it.

nissin make caliper for oem honda and spoon, are they the exactly the same?

just because both sheet of glass looks alike, it doesn't mean they are make in the same specificiation and material.

they look the same to you, glass is glass huh?

McColluch's HID didn't last for a year, a friend used to own a set.

i installed a set of HID, it's a offbrand sold in ht, i think it's called techone, they are not even individually fused

phillip, Hella FTW.

you get what you pay

most of the time, i would say no.

in the world of electronic, very very very rarely.

it is the difference between paying a little money for garbage, or paying lots of money for garbage. Either way, you will be another ricer assclown cruising around blinding people.

The real question would be how you can retrofit OEM HIDs into your OEM. That is where real lights begin for Accords.

just because you think that have a HID kit makes a person a ricer assclown doesnt mean all people think that way. What if a person needed them to see better because a stock bulb doesnt light up the road well enough for them. You cant just generalize without even knowing anything about it. That my friend, is a hypocrit.

Well, not exactly. A hypocrite would tell you not to do something, but does it himself.

Please come back with a less pathetic excuse. Halogens worked fine for the 50 years before ricer assclowns decided to be baller.

when you get blinded, you will see things this way.

i've had my McCulloch 4500k(or maybe it's 5000k?) HID kit for almost 4 years now......they work great. no problems with them at all and they work and look incredible.

yes I'm sure a Philips or Catz HID kit is better qualitly..... but if it's cheap and it works then go for it.

out of all the so called "crap" and "cheap" no name HID kits, McCulloch seems to have slightly better quality that most others i have seen.

Hard to say, most kits are lower quality (mainly due to thier ballasts). I got a set that's Xenon Storm and while flipping thru the newest modified mag I noticed an install of Ignited hids that are exactly the same as the units I have (down to the product code being almost the same: ignited-ep8035dc-m2, Xenon Storm-ep8035dc-m3) so it's hard to say for sure.

Personally I like the combo of Hella Gen 3 ballasts with adaptors to PNP bulbs (if going the kit route), have this in my intrepid and they've been problem free since install and the Hella ballast is the same as the units in BMW's n Benz's n such.
