Default Charging Problems

Well I am having a hard time keeping a charge, I put in a new batery and several days later my car wont start. I get another new batery and the same thing happens. So I buy a alternator and the same thing happens, I checked all wires and fuses and everything looks good but I noticed that when I charge the batery or jump it the power is strong for about 5mins and then all my lights go dim and the car shuts off. Any suggestions.

Have you checked the voltage drop from battery to alternator post? The symptoms you are describing are pretty in keeping with a bad wire between those two connections.

I haven't checked the voltage because I don't have a votage meter, but I did check the wiring between those two and every thing looks ok. Any other suggestions.

Looks can be deceiving....you may have some corrosion inside the wire sheath. My advice would be to use an old school VAT40 and do a voltage drop on the alternator.

I've got a 1 volt drop between them on my car and I have some low charge issues occasionally.

Well today when I was looking at my wiring I noticed that my EGR block off plate wasn't Tight enough or wasn't sealing properly. So I tightened it down and jump stared the car and it seemed to hold a charge, I drove it around and it didn't die on me. I guess my next question would be can that leak that I was having be enough to throw my car into limp mode and cause the car to act the way it did?

....and a Helms in order to put that newly bought DMM to use.
