CEL Problems

My CEL comes on after I hit Vtec on my newly recuilt CRVtec(didn't have any trouble before the rebuild). What specific wires or sensors would possibly trip the CEL when Vtec is engaged? Any ideas on trouble shooting this problem?

that is the first thing that I did. the ECU isn't responding is what they told me. 1rst time they tried using the obdII reader, but i corrected that error. I am going to buy a Hondata ecu and see what happens. the car is running great, but everytime I hit Vtec the CEL pops on. Who knows?

I have no idea where the jumper wires are. I need to just get it back to my old shop but they screwed a rew things up last time it was in. I was hoping to get a good idea of what the problem was, so I don't have to pay them hundreds of dollars for troubleshooting.
On my '95 Integra the wire is tucked up next to the glove box. Whatever car & year your ECU came from, get your hands on a Helm manual for it. Find the SCS connector in the wiring diagrams, that'll tell you what pin on the ECU you short to ground to read the codes.

That is the problem. My car is a 2000 civic Ex, with a B16A1 engine running off of a P28 w/ mugen chip. I know for a fact that my secondary O2 sensor is not connected, but it hasn't been and hasn't triggered the CEL. Before I rebuilt my second CRV block is when the light started popping on at Vtec. I ordered a new ECU and will possibly order a new wire harness too.

ok, since you're running an OBD1 ecu, you don't need to have the 2nd 02 hooked up, OBD1 ecu's don't look for a 2nd 02 sensor.
Its easy to get the check engine light to blink, as Jim says, look under the dash (with a flash light) on the passenger side. You should see a green rubber block under there (sorry for the blurry pic):

Inside that green block are 2 plugs. One of the plugs is smaller than the other, and thats the one you want to use:
Take a paperclip and make a "U" shape out of it, turn your car on so the check engine light will come on, then insert the paper clip into the small plug & watch your check engine light begin to blink.
a single long blink = incriments of 10
short blinks = incriments of 1

Thanks for the help u 2. I found out that the problem is that my ECU is JDM and I have an appointment with my old shop. I think that the problem is either the solenoid, possibly oil pressure or one of half a dozen sensors.
