Car is a 2000 GSR. No engine mods other than an AEM CAI, which has been on the car for years without issue.
So, for the last 2 weeks, my car has been throwing CELs randomly. Seems to alternate between P1456 and P1457. Happens every couple of days, then I check and clear the codes, then it comes back a few days later.

Er, suggestions on things to check and replace?

I had that code give me a lot of trouble a couple years ago. first i would check would be the gas cap. is it after market or stock? then i would check all vaccum connections from the intake to evap canister. I would also highly recommend a helms manual. could be anything from leaking hose to a bad purge soleniod. feel free top ask if you have any questions.

Stock gas cap. To my knowledge, the original that came on the car 8 years ago. I'll replace it, and see if it continues.
I can check vac hoses. Whats a purge solenoid?

Purge solenoid is basically and electrical switch controlled by the ecu to open and close. its mounted on your fuel rail has one black plug into it and two vaccum lines coming from it. one goes to your intake manifold amd the other end to your evap canister mounted on the firewall. How it works is while your engine is running fuel vapors build up in the fuel tank and its stored via a line form the tank into the canister. It gets absorbed by the charcoal in the canister and what is left over stays in. When the ecu see's excess pressure build up in the system from the fuel tank pressure sensor. The ecu then sends a voltage signal to this valve allowing fuel vapors to go into your intake and engine to be burned. And with this not allowing vapors to enter the air. well i hope that helps u understand the system some. thats just a brief description, but hope understand it better now. now for the problem , its hard to fix with out a manual but u cant try to and check all your electrical connections and getting a hold of a helms would help greatly.

Excellent. Very nice description. Thank you.
Yes, a Helms is on the "to buy" list, just haven't got around to it yet.

theres a acura service bulletin for the evap bypass solinoid valve going bad. heres a quick check you can do locate the evap bypass solinoid valve with the key on,unplug the connetor to it an plug it on and off you should hear a clicking type noise, but first you would have to have power to the valve from either pcm/ecu or apply power or ground. becareful doing this with the connector plug in you could damage pcm if you apply power or ground to the wrong wires. it can be costly i've done it before its sucks. if the valve clicks it possible it could still be bad.good luck (use a repair manual or electrical manual for your car).
