CEL throwing a code #1 - oxygen content and code #7 - ignition control module. Ive never had either of these codes before so what do i look for and how do i fix it? .... also, my tach went out the same time it went into to safe mode, could the #7 be a reason why its not working or could it be a different problem?

 

Code 7 is not a ICM code, but a TPS code(Throttle Position Sensor) Make sure it isn't damaged/ it IS plugged into the TPS/ TPS is set correctly. Just a place to start. This info applies to civics 88-95. Posting your make model year would have been much better info for much better help.Good Luck.

 

car is 96 gsr teg. ... and i mustve miss read the chart so youre right, #7 is TPS.... now who knows how to fix the problem with #1-oxygen content?

 

Code one is Oxygen sensor code. Most likely culprit from first to last... is O2 sensor is faulty, not plugged in, harness is melted to exhasut pipe, connector between O2 and Engine Wire Harness is filled with oil. If you have another one to try, would be my first step. Through the process you will answer all the most likely possibilites. Of course there are other possibilities, bad wiring/ Bad computer, but not likely. Good luck

 

man, im starting to believe this chart i have has misleading terminalogy ... wording is garbage. another one was; code 3 "MAF" must mean MAP.
i think anyone couldve figured out an o2 sensor. hence being labled "o2 sensor" on standard charts. LOL, thanks for your help tho.
