Default CEL code 3 on in a 95 cx w/ b16. will vtec engage?

i have a 95 cx with a b16 sirII swap. it is currently throwing a CEL that i found out was because of my lack of a map sensor. it runs in safe mode and gets terrible gas mileage. when vtec should kick in it feels flat with no noticeable rise in power. i am wondering if vtec is not kicking in with my check engine light on? can anyone help me out with this? thanks. tim

JDM engines have the MAP sensor attached to the firewall, you can just take the one off your stock throttle body and run a vacuum line off the top of the JDM engine's throttle body to the old map sensor.

Doesnt the SIR II come with the MAP on the T-body? I thought only OBD-0 and the 1st series of OBD-1 have the MAP on the firewall. If you have your old T-body from the CX motor, just use that one. If the t-body on the B16 has a nipple close to the throttle rotor, then just use a vaccum hose and attatch it to the nipple on the MAP. If there is the hole on top of the t-body, then just screw it in. Either way, a MAP is a MAP. And yes, no VTEC! SAFE MODE!

ok, spare plug goes to the evap purge solenoid, red wire and black/yellow wire. ran vacuum hose from charc canister to eps and from eps to intake manifold. plugged loose plug into evap purge solenoid. now that thats taken care of, how exactly do i hardwire my map sensor to my ecu?

i have 3 wires coming from my map sensor plug that is detatched from the harness that is on the motor. 1. power 2. signal 3. ground.

1. yellow/red - power
3. red/green - signal
2. green/white - ground

do i have this right?
