Default CEL code 23 vtec spool?

ok.. i have a 92 integra with a b20b block and b16a head... i was running a chipped p28 and it was fine, i traded this guy for his p72 stock.. when i put it in my car would barely start and die if you didnt give it gas.. lots of white smoke from the exhaust also... then when i put the p28 back in its doing the same ****..its throwing code 23 which is the vtec spool solinoid valve i think.. from what ive searched other people that have had this problem are only having problems with their vtec kicking in, but i cant even get my car to run properly... help me out guys! thanks

Sounds like a problem I had when I did my LS/Vtec....The p72 might be looking for the knock sensor..........if you do not have a knock sensor, this might be the problem. Also check your oil level

You told me that it was code 21! Code 23 IS your knock sensor! If you are running the p28 there should not be a problem cause the p28 does not have a knock sensor circuit. Don't use the p72 unless you run a knock(you can put it in the alternator bracket hole) PM me w/ any more questions. Have I been helpful or what!!!

yes i figured that the p72 wasnt working because of the knock sensor... but not when i put my p28 back in it still wont work and code 21 is coming up.. so now what do i do? could putting the p72 in have broken something?

Check if the solenoid is actuall functioning. Put battery voltage on it and listen for the "click."
