CEL checking on 1998 civic 4DR EX

CEL checking on 1998 civic 4DR EX
Hey I've looked at other posts about checking the CEL but haven't found anything on my civic model. I've looked under the side passenger dash for the grey plug, but didn’t find anything. If anyone can help me out, please do so. Thanks.
