A little history on my car, i have an 00 Si, with around 60k miles on it. It has intake and exhaust, and it has a dry nitrous kit on it, which i used for 1 bottle, and i had correct timing and colder spark plugs. But that was takin off a week ago, and i don't think that has much to do with it.

So i was driving tonite, going about 40 mph, and i went to give it gas, and i realized my car had died, so i put it into gear, let out the clutch and start it while i'm driving, and the CEL comes on. I pull into a gas station, and first gear is extremely boggy.

I call up my friend, UnsungEM1, and he tells me to check what code i'm throwing .. i try, but failed cause i couldn't get it to flash .. then someone parked 2 cars away says my exhaust smells like ***. I get down to my exhaust, take a BIG whiff (bad idea) and it smells like straight sulfar, and maybe a little "gassy" (then i coughed and puked lol).

So any idea what it could be? The car seems to be pretty boggy ... i'll pull my plugs tomorrow and check if any are fouled .. one person mentioned it may be my o2 sensor or my cat .. so i'll see if i can find anything out tomorrow.

Hmm, yeah thats wierd Brian. Anyone have suggestions? I searched archives but I couldn't find any references to Sulfur smelling stuff. Any help would be appreciated.

 

Also forgot to mention an irregular idle when starting, i'll start it, and it starts right up, then the rpms drop to what feels like it's gonna die, then go to 1500, then to 500, and the evens out. So yea .. bah damn hondas

 

After checking the plugs, they are black (only been in a few thousand miles). They are not too bad, but definatly no "mocha" color. There is no build up on them, they are just black.

Starting it for the first time this morning, the engine had a weird knock in it, and i realized the smell coming from the exhaust wasn't so much sulfar, as it was gasoline ...

So i'm guessing ... it's throwing a misfire code, or something for my cat or o2 sensor.

I decided to write up a little poem about my ordeal, in an attempt to help me heal

My car is teh gay
The check engine light came on today.
Driving down a hill, it started to die
I pulled right over and wondered why.
The idle isn't smooth,
it bounces and likes to move.
The exhaust gas smells like ***.
and it's running really rich.
I go to the ECU since OBD2's a sinch,
after 10 minutes a failure, i learned it's just a bitch.
The moral of the story is, kids, don't play with a Honda,
Unless your name happens to start with Jane or end with Fonda.

we figured it out, it was a crushed map sensor!
