CEL on but throwing no codes
I have a b18c swapped into a eg civic, the swap came out of my friends running civic, nothing was changed we used his wire harness and everything from the running car. The CEL is on and stays solid and does not throw a code at all when we put the jumper in there to read it. We went and drove it and it drove fine accelerated fine and then went to the gas station to fill out. On the way back we wanted to see if Vtec would engage and as soon as I gave it gas it would sputter and not allow vtec to engage. The car then kind of goes into limp mode and doesn't let me accelerate. We have checked all the wiring and stuff and are pretty stumped at this point. I do have gauges in the car from when it was boosted that are not connected, a boost and oil pressure there hooked up but just tapped into a power source so I don't think this could be the problem. We also tried multiple ECU's and nothing gives with the CEL.
if you tried multiple ecus then use the process of elimination.
theres no demons in the car that make it magically not run or put spells on your ecu.
if electrical is the problem simplify it first by removing all unnecessary circuits and wires.
if problem goes away then add one by one untill it is back.
did your eg civic come with a vtec motor?
gsr has a knock sensor and IAB did you wire those in?
what engine harness you used?
are the TPS and map sensor plugged in correctly and not switched.( they have same plugs)
check the other switches to make sure they are plugged in proper positions...

It came with the original d16z, I then swapped gsr into it ran fine for a year, but I built a b16 for boost so I removed that motor and sold it. Blew the boosted motor and now going back to a gsr swap. When I had the first gsr swap I used my civic harness and added in the knock sensor and it ran like a dream never had a single problem. This time around I am using a gsr harness with knock sensor and Iab hooked up but ran into this issue. I'll take a look at the plugs again tomorrow.
Alright so, we changed the vss because of the sporadic speedo and it then gave us a code for o2 sensor so we then changed that. Car runs good now vtec engages, good throttle response just like a normal motor just that damn CEL is still on solid. The ecu was chipped and tuned so could it be that there wasn't something erased from the old basemap on the ecu causing it to light up the cel?
