Cat. Conv.
I know there has been mutiple posts about this, but I've completely gutted out my cat. and (1) I haven't noticed much of a power increase, (2) my check engine light came on about a week after I did that. I checked the error code and got a 76 (or a 67, which ever one is the catalytist system.) I read on one of the posts that this means that the engine is running rich and that can eventually damage the engine. Is this true? and how do I get this light off? I've removed the fuse for the ecu (I think, there isn't ONE fuse labeled ECU.) and that didn't change anything. Does anyone have any ideas?
Also, I've got an OBX-R straight through cat. and when I tried to put it on, the O2 sensor was on the header end rather than the muffler end like the OEM cat. How do I counteract that and get that performance cat. on? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Go to importparts.com they have a o2 simulator which will help with your problem.

sounds like that will work for me. so this will keep the engine from running rich?
why did you gut it anyway? you're just ruining the environment for .02 HP gains. plus think about it. the exhuast gasses are running into a larger chamber and then forced back into a smaller one. does that sound like easy flow? of course you won't see much gain.

well, I gutted it when I found out that the high flo cat that I bought wouldn't fit because the o2 sensor wouldn't reach to the other end of the cat. If anyone has any ideas on fixing that, I'll be putting that on real quick. Somebody told me to get a hole welded into the other end and put the o2 sensor there. But I didn't think there was enough room on the cat for a hole there. So basically, I need an o2 sensor extension. Or I could just plug the hole and unplug the o2 sensor all together.

Head down to Radio Shack, get some wire, cut the O2 sensor wires, and add some extra length. Just be careful to ensure good connections.
As for the check engine light, if you can live with it, it's not that big a deal. In my experience, this particular code does not produce the "limp home" or safety mode that other codes produce. There has been some debate on this, but I can't see any loss of performance whether mine is on or not. However, I would love to see some conclusive evidence one way or the other.
