Default cars knocking

well i changed my freinds clutch in his car and when i was done i started it up, thinkin gall was fine, after some time the engine got a slight knock not bad at all but when i reved it to 2k it knocked like crazy so i called him and he said it was like that so i left it alone

he came back sating it was knocking bad and the heat wasnt working.
i checked his oil and there was not a drop in the engine, problem solved
so put nre oild in and start it up but the problem still exists not to my surprize

what can it be and can the heat have anything to do with it or no

or is the engine toast

btw cars a 2001-2 mr2

you guys are dumbasses, who drives a vehicle that has a physical "knock", let alone let the engine run, your bearings and journals are prolly trashed

agreed with above.

Drain the oil look for shavings.. check filter as well for shavings. You ran a motor with no oil, its junk.

answer his question and keep your dumb remarks to yourself...thats not the point of HT...and to answer your question..from my experience...my gsr did the same..when i rev it up higher then 2 grand the knock would start knocking like crazy...so i took it apart and for sure i knew already before taking it apart that i had spun a rod bearing..and i was right..so you can drain the oil and look for metal shavings or take off the oil pan and expect it...and no the heat has nothing to do with the knock

ive read this guys posts before hes an idiot, you need to do some research, take an engine course, hell i dont know get a clue what your doing, why did you come here to ask a retarded question, do you know what causes a knock from the bottom end? if not find out, if so you should know what to do, instead of posting stupid ****, you should know to pull the oilpan and inspect the things that a knock would effect ie bearings, journals, metal shavings, ect. You ask us is the engine toast? we dont know you tell us, unless you post some pictures your the man in charge, we cant tell you much

to answer your question, lack of oil will cause an engine to start knocking.. heat... not so much unless extreme to the point of oil not doing its job

hey smartass get ur head out of the hole and read the first post quiksilver left.

that's as plane jane as it gets, if you start bashing people you will get bashed back, the most you could've done was ask how bearings get spun or 'trashed', the least you could've done is use the search button to figure out what can cause a knock
