1990 Civic
I cant start the car so i took the main relay out and took out the fuse in the engine bay and it resets and it starts right up. I drove around for a bit with no problem and then wanted to get something to eat and i try to shut the car off i take out the key and notice the car is still running. So i took the main relay out and it shut the car off. When i get back from eating the car wouldnt start and i tried everything like what i did before, checked the ignition and yet it still doesnt work. We tried two different main relays. The car wont recongize the main relay so the car wont start or shut off.
Before this all happened my dad was in the garage and noticed mice in my car soo do you think they chewed up some wire? And if so what wire should i look at with those symptoms or if its not the wire what else should i check?
I think the mice did something because the car ran perfect until we noticed the mice have been in my car

I don't know what to check, but I have seen mice/rats chew stuff up pretty good inside of cars. You would think that they would not like the vibrations and noises that cars make? I guess there are enough crumbs around the interior to make them happy.

under your steering column you will see a big group of wires
12volts white/black +ignition harness


Starter black/white + ignition harness

Ignition black/yellow + ignition harness

Accessory yellow + ignition harness
Second Accessory blue/white + ignition harness

THese are all of your wires that will start the car...your 2 accessory wires I wouldn't really worry about because all they do is shut off your heat and cd player while the car is cranking over and than when its started it turns them back on..
also don't worry about your starter wire either if the car starts...make sure that ignition wire and the 12 volt wire is good.

ok heres the problem now... we can get the fuel pump runnin but now we cant figure out why the car wont shut off. Also the dome light doesnt always work and we dont know what wire will cause that to happen. So all we really need to figure out is what turns the car off.
