Car won't start! Emergency Help!
Early today I went to egmadness' house after work and parked my car outside. An hour or so later, we were ready to roll out but my car would not start. Engine simply turned over but it would not start. Anyways, we checked the distributor, got ICM tested out and works fine. We were unable to test ICC but determined that was working as car was sparking - in all four lines. Then we used a noid light and tested out fuel injectors to make sure they were getting power and they were. Later on we removed spark plugs and could smell gas in them. Baically egmadness statead it had something to do w/ timing and I was wondering what I can do about this? Will my car start once the fuel clears spark plugs? I need to know. Need my car to be up by Monday for work and school. If anyone can help, please let me know. I am in desperate need of help. Thanx!
Well, it's official. My car is "out of service." After constant efforts to get it running, our efforts failed. It has now gone to a shop to get looked at. If engine has suffered massively, then I will be replacing the engine, stock for now, as I really really need my car to be working.
Car engine is gone. According to mechanic, engine compression is gone. So I guess I'll be getting a new engine. Hopefully the swap will be done in a few hours.
ummm your shop wants you to get a whole new engine if it doesnt start? What do you mean by gone?
Loss of compression could simply be your rings and will be a fraction of the cost of replacing the whole damn engine. Either your mechanic is a dumbass or he is ripping you off.
The only way I would replace a whole engine is is I blow a hole in the block and the piston shoots out of the head.
Try rebuilding (what normal people do) and save yourself a lot of cash. Either way, if you replace the whole engine, ill take the "bad" engine off your hands.
